We offer a variety of courses to Guild Members and Non-Members from Introductory to Advanced and Specialised Techniques

Introduction To Blacksmithing
This is a first level course for beginners or those with limited knowledge of the ‘ways of the smith’
Open Forge days

Join us for our Open Forge days and practice the skills you have learnt on previous courses or make your own items as you wish.  No specific instruction although help is at hand to advise if required.  Cost includes use of the forge and fuel.  Please bring your own metal or enquire to the guild if needed.

Further Techniques And Developing Skills
This course builds on the skills learned during the Introductory Course. Also suitable for those with some experience.
Specialist Courses
These courses are offered periodically depending on popularity or by specific request. Subjects may include; animal heads, flowers and leaves, forging non-ferrous metals, forging wrought iron, guilding, heat treatment, historica forging, Japanese bladesmithing, pattern fire welding, makume, power hammer, repousse.
Fire Welding Application And Methods
Fire Welding is offered as a ‘stand alone’ course due to its importance as a traditional joining method and to help eradicate some of the mystery associated with the skill. Students should have some experience in blacksmithing particularly fire management and the correct use of tools and equipment.
